Jason C. MitchellSystems Data and Integrations Librarian

Welcome to my digital garden! This is where I share projects, ideas-in-progress, and experiments from my work in library technology.

At Loyola Marymount University, I'm the Systems Data and Integrations Librarian, where I work behind the scenes to make library systems more reliable, connected, and effective. In practice, that means improving the quality and structure of data in Alma, using analytics to support decision-making, and developing API-driven integrations and automation that help systems work together and reduce friction in day-to-day operations.

I'm especially interested in the hidden workflows that keep libraries running, including metadata quality, process design, and the role of data and systems in shaping how library work gets done. Much of my work explores how more intentional use of data, integration, and automation can support better decisions, more sustainable workflows, and more accessible library services.

This site is a place to think through those ideas in public. I use it to document what I'm learning, test new approaches, and connect practical systems work with broader questions about library technology and data. Feel free to explore, reach out with questions, or connect if you'd like to collaborate. You can also check out my linked brief CV for a snapshot of my professional background.
